October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. One in 8 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Early detection is the key to recovery, and even more accurate detection can be had with the Genius 3 mammography exam at Grand River Health. Genius 3d offers a faster scan with less time under compression, a more comfortable experience and an even sharper images than previously available. After a two year hiatus, Grand River Health is pleased to announce the return of the Diabetes Health Fair in November!
Did you know 1 in 10 Americans are at risk for Diabetes? If Type 2 Diabetes goes untreated, the high blood sugar can affect various cells and organs in the body. Complications include kidney damage, often leading to dialysis, eye damage, which could result in blindness, or an increased risk for heart disease or stroke. The good news is, if caught early you can avoid complications of Diabetes and even take small steps to prevent it.
You can find out more about Diabetes and take advantage of several low-cost or free screenings by attending the 2022 Grand River Health Diabetes Health Fair on Saturday, November 5th from 7-9am at its new location at Garfield County Public Health, located at 195 14th Street in Rifle. No appointment or insurance is necessary.

Meningitis Information Session
Grand River Health invites you to join us on Thursday, November 3 from 5:30-6:30pm for a very informative session on the importance of getting the meningitis vaccine. Join pediatrician Dr. Nichole Feeney and Meningitis survivor Nate Landon for a very frank and moving conversation about Meningitis and its devastating effects on children and young adults. Join us live at the Grand River Conference Center. If you are unable to attend the session will be rebroadcast for your convenience on our website or we will send out the link to the session in our next GRH Chronicle email.
Losing a loved one is an incredibly difficult thing… That’s why Grand River Health is resuming its Grief Support Group every Tuesday evening beginning October 4th from 5:30-6:30pm. Support groups are a time-tested method of help for people struggling with grief and all the emotions that follow losing someone close to you. This group will give you help with coping, bringing back hope and connecting with others to help with the road to healing.
