Originally from Denver, Dr. Furer received both his undergraduate and medical degree from CU, Boulder. From there he completed a surgical internship at Loyola University in Chicago and an Emergency Medicine residency in the Bronx, New York. After graduating, Dr. Furer moved back to Colorado and worked in Aurora for 21 years at a level II trauma center. He is certified by the
In 2019 Dr. Furer moved with his wife and 2 sons to Basalt where he practiced as a concierge physician, providing on-site care and specializing in acute mountain sickness. When asked what he likes best about working in rural medicine he replied “I enjoy having the time to talk to my patients and learning about them. I get a great deal of knowledge by listening to my patients.” Dr. Furer will be seeing patients in the Grand River Health Emergency Department.
When not at work, Dr. Furer enjoys all of the amenities life in the mountains entails including skiing, mountain biking and hiking. He also enjoys cooking.
