JOB PURPOSE: To improve the health and well being of our communities.
BASIC FUNCTION: The Controller serves as a member of the Finance Department at Grand River Hospital District. Responsible for maintaining the accounting functions of the organization. These functions include but are not limited to maintaining accounting systems, procedures, policies, principles, practices, and initiatives. Prepares financial reports and presents findings and recommendations to management. Duties include designing and coordinating a wide variety of accounting and statistical data and reports. Oversees reporting of financial information including: budget, credit, insurance, tax, treasury, required filings and reports etc. Administers the general accounting and patient business services in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In coordination with the CFO and management develops long and short-range operational and capital budgets, which are supported by the hospital’s plans and objectives. Prepares cash flow analyses and budget variance analyses. Recommends budget modifications as necessary. Monitors hospital fiscal performance in realizing established plans and objectives of the hospital. Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Certified Public Account licensure preferred and bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field preferred.
Experience: Five to ten years of working experience in a similar role preferred. Working experience in a hospital setting in a similar role preferred.
